In December, FSAE hosted a document shredding event with Secure Records Solutions. Thanks to our member participation, we were able to collectively shred and recycle just under 2000 lbs of paper, saving 17 trees!

• Each ton (2,000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy, and 7,000 gallons of water. This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution.

• The 17 trees saved (above) can absorb a total of 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air each year. Burning the same ton of paper would create 1,500 pounds of carbon dioxide.

• The construction costs of a paper mill designed to use waste paper are 50 to 80% less than the costs of a mill using new pulp.

The FSAE Board of Directors announces Hester Ndoja, CAE as the Interim President/CEO after the recent passing of our beloved leader Frank Rudd on September 12, 2023.

Hester joined the FSAE staff in 2008 and was promoted to Vice President in 2015. She is the staff liaison for the Membership and Sponsorship Committees, and manages the FSAE Foundation initiatives. Hester’s appointment comes with the resounding recommendation of the FSAE leadership and staff.

It is with deep sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of our beloved leader Frank Rudd.

Frank recently took a medical leave of absence to concentrate on his health. Unfortunately, his illness progressed quickly and he passed peacefully in his home after an eight month battle with cancer.

Now is the time to be a part of making your professional community stronger while building relationships with your peers. As a volunteer, you can contribute your expertise or learn skills in new/different areas to grow in your career. Upcoming terms begin in September and run through July (Annual Conference). Committees typically meet monthly by Zoom. 

FSAE presented its most prestigious Leadership Awards at its recent Annual Conference held at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs. These awards recognize individuals for their leadership, dedication, and professionalism both within FSAE as well as their own organizations.

The award winners for 2023 are:

FSAE has joined 165+ organizations in signing on to ASAE's Tomorrow's Workforce Coalition, to help pass the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow's Workforce Act (HR 1477 / S 722), bipartisan legislation to expand qualified expenses under 529 savings plans to include postsecondary training and credentialing programs, such as licenses and nongovernmental certifications. It would also provide valuable tax-advantaged resources for students and workers-with or without a college degree-who pursue career growth, mid-career changes or career pathways that diverge from a typical academic route.

Which means that associations' credentialing programs can become more accessible and affordable to young adults and job seekers.
