2019 Foundation Think Tank: Designing the Future State for Professional Learning

Adult learners want information now.
They demand formats that are immediately accessible, current and relevant to their job, their career development, and their interests. Yet, many associations rely on dated, traditional conference models as a primary revenue source. Limited resources are spent on poorly attended workshops and limited use of online learning that reach a small percentage of total membership annually. It’s time to design a future state for our learning strategy and business models.

The 2019 FSAE Think Tank will explore emerging changes in the learning industry and design concepts for associations to lead lifelong learning initiatives. Drivers of changes will include:

• Learning models, i.e. competency-based education with a focus on self-directed pathways and the application of knowledge to skills needed for the future workforce
• Recognition of learning, i.e. digital badges and credentials for verification and employer match
• Data and analytics, i.e. artificial intelligence and machine learning

Be a part of creating actionable scenarios for your organization and the association community at large:

1. Deconstruct the traditional learning products offered by associations to reframe what is possible and necessary for the future.
2. Create options that meet a ‘learning-on-demand’ culture while creating member value and subject-matter expertise within trade and professional membership associations.

Tracy Petrillo, EdD, CAE is a thought leader in adult learning, digital credentialing, educational technologies and leadership development. She speaks nationally to nonprofit, medical, corporate and higher education audiences and advises on educational strategies that achieve agile, impactful workforces and create member value. Serving as Chief Learning Officer for the Construction Specifications Institute, Dr. Petrillo is the former CEO for the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, a start-up interprofessional medical society; and, the former Chief Learning Officer for EDUCAUSE serving higher education IT. A lifelong learner and active volunteer, Tracy recently completed her doctorate in educational leadership with a specialization in human resource development.

Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach has provided a special room rate of $99 per night. FSAE will reserve your room based on the arrival/departure dates you provide on the registration form. You will need to provide a credit card to the hotel once you receive a hotel confirmation notice from FSAE. Hard Rock Daytona Beach is offering the special $99 rate for 3 days pre and post event.

What is Think Tank?

The FSAE Foundation hosts a bi-annual Think Tank to contribute to the association management knowledge base. The meeting gathers a small group of association decision makers to contemplate an issue, concern, topic, or idea concerning the operation of associations and/or the association management profession. The group, with the assistance of our informed facilitator, draws conclusions and drafts a report to contribute to the association community.

FSAE Executive Members in good standing, FSAE Board of Directors and Foundation Trustees are eligible to participate in this exciting event. The white papers below are the products of past Think Tank meetings.
