Tallahassee, FL (February 21, 2024) -- The Florida Society of Association Executives (FSAE), a prominent organization dedicated to professional development in association management, proudly announces the appointment of Hester Ndoja, CAE as the new President/CEO.
David Grossman and Consumer Technology Association have been stalwart leaders in the effort to rid our communities of the spammers members fake membership list offers and/or impersonate our room blocks using our logos or spoofing our email domains. The FTC made a final ruling to help us protect our organizations and members from these scams. He is sharing this info with us below -
Recently, the FTC issued its long-awaited final rule prohibiting the impersonation of government, businesses, and their officials or agents in interstate commerce. CTA is in the process of reviewing the text. It will become effective 30 days from the date it is published in the Federal Register. HELP EXPEDITE A FINAL RULE TARGETING ASSOCIATION IMPOSTERS
Help stop impersonation fraud and various other imposter schemes impacting many industries, trade shows, and events.
Impersonation fraud remains an ongoing threat to the face-to-face business events industry. Commonly seen examples include the sale of attendee registration lists, fraudulent websites offering hotel bookings, and the sale of false discounted badges. While FSAE warns our sponsors, exhibitors and members often, these spammers are notorious for scrapping logos and company names to scam you.

FSAE recently conducted a survey of FSAE Executive Members regarding in-person meetings. We gathered data on when organizations will hold meetings, if they are including a virtual component, what their challenges are, and what they need in order to plan successful meetings.
This survey provides insightful data on the meetings atmosphere for the association industry, so we are sharing the results. Hopefully this helps you as you move forward with your future in-person meetings.
Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ben Cardin (D-MD) and others are leading an effort to make changes to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to allow for more flexibility for use of the funds. Next week the House is also expected to vote on the Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act, a bill introduced by Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) to make changes to loan forgiveness in the current PPP. As of now, both of those efforts do not include associations. Help us send the message to Congress: don’t leave associations behind in any modifications of the PPP.
We need your help to weigh in with Congress to include 501(c)(6) nonprofit associations. ASAE and other association advocates have reached out to ask for associations to be included, but we know Congress needs to hear from more voices. We are asking association professionals to reach out to any contacts in the House or Senate your organization may have, or call your representatives, and ask for associations to be included in the Paycheck Protection Program. In 2018, FSAE reached 1,188 members - with approximately 600 Association Executives - and we're continuing to grow. In addition, we've offered 45 in-person events and 26 webinars totaling 98 CAE credit hours and 20 CMP hours.
