CARES Act – COVID-19 Stimulus Package Update for Associations

On Friday, March 27 the President signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, providing over $2 trillion for emergency aid to Americans and businesses. The Act does allow relief for 501(c)(3) non-profits, but unfortunately 501(c)(6) organizations were omitted from this round of relief.

However, The US Chamber reports that most 501(c)(6)s are eligible for Small Business Administration (SBA) loans through the Emergency Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. “This program has been in place, but was modified in this stimulus package,” The Chamber states. “One modification is that (c)(6)s can apply for a modest $10,000 advance to help with payroll, and that $10,000 does not have to be repaid.”

The Florida Society of Association Executives Foundation has granted over $17,600 this year to 29 professionals across Florida. The members that will receive these grants will use the 2019 funds for professional development and educational opportunities that help advance their careers in the non-profit and association management industry.

HIlton Grant 2019“The Hilton Hotel Sponsors are so honored to be part of Hilton’s Diversity and Inclusion Grant.  In a time where there seems to be so much divide, we are proud to be advocates in uniting and providing professional development opportunities for our association professionals. Study Reveals Diversity and Inclusion are a Priority For Florida Associations and Provides Growth Opportunities

The Florida Society of Association Executives, partnering with the executive search firm Vetted Solutions, released the results of a survey on diversity and inclusion within its member trade and professional associations in Florida.

The survey is the first in Florida to analyze qualitatively the state of associations’ efforts to incorporate diversity and inclusion into their day-to-day operations and their staffing and strategic plans. The study results indicate that while Florida associations recognize diversity and inclusion are significant factors to an organization’s success, many are still working through the practical implementation to more fully realize their goals:
